The Poetry Problem

I think post-modernism and the modern artists refusal to develop a connection with it's audience says a lot about today's society. I think that the greater our technology gets, and ironically, the larger the population gets, the less need we feel for creating deep and meaningful connections with the people around us. As a result we have paintings and peotry out there that fail to reach out and grab peoples attention. So oddly, even as art alienates it's audience it has become its very reflection.

I got to wondering after you Twittered about this whether or not this was the same issue of BAP that I fought with in my blog. Indeed, it was. That particular issue is heavier than most in more avant and post-avant (their term, not mine) writers than any volume before or since. I meant to blog the whole thing poem-by-poem, in part to engage all the avant people on the web to help me figure the darn thing out. I ran out of steam-- because of tag/category changes, the best way to see my posts is this search:
Guess my comment got delayed because I had to confirm my vox account-- which I signed up for a long time ago, but never used.

Anyway, I want to say more about this, but before I do-- are you aware of the contemporary group of poets that calls itself the "post-avant" (and many of whom have labelled the more traditional/mainstream the "school of quietude")? Just trying to lay down some ground so my comments will make more sense :)
